EAT

As locals who are well acquainted with the food scene here,  we decided to create  a  guide where we talk about our favorite spots and to help others keep up with the latest food news and find resources like specials and happy hours

*Our Faves:  These are the places we go to regularly and spend our own money. Nobody paid us to write about these places.
*Lists: These are a combination of our opinion and popular opinion of other locals. Nobody paid to be on the list.

Atmosphere: The embodiment of Southern comfort. Luna's features open spaces with coastal colors, vintage décor on the walls and soul food smells billowing from the kitchen. You'll notice the expansive grassy courtyard as you enter. A great spot for a small ceremony or event.  The bar area features their 32 craft beer taps. Lots of space inside or you can enjoy outdoor dining on their expansive covered deck. There are plenty of big screen TVs throughout the restaurant making it a great place to catch a game.
The Service: Service has always been friendly here. Very casual and they get the job done. Be kind to them and they'll treat you right.

Food: This is down home Southern cooking from scratch.  My all time favorite thing to get here is the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. It's got just the right amount of kick for flavor and It's not so hot you can't stand it. They use sister restaurant BuzzCatz's homemade white bread and it's amazing what a difference it makes.

Their fried catfish is a family favorite. You know how sometimes catfish can have a bit of a muddy taste?  Not here. It's crisp and clean. The oil they use is always clean too.  If you're a catfish fan, I definitely recommend trying it here.

Grilled or blackened Mahi, crab claws, po'boys. It's all good.

Kids Menu: They have a decent kids menu featuring spaghetti with a BIG meatball. Burgers, fried fish, etc. If it's lunch time, our boys order off the meat and 3 menu.

Cost: You can eat cheap or you can live high on the hog and go for the crab claws. If you're on a budget, go for lunch. The meat and 3 for under $10 can't be beat. Dinner is on par with area restaurants. You can save by ordering a sandwich or coming early for their Happy Hour specials. Luna's has one of the best Happy Hour's around.

Local Perspective: During the Summer, we hit Luna's up for an early lunch right when they open. We get right in and seated before the main rush. If we're going to a concert at the Wharf we'll stop in to take advantage of their Happy Hour specials before we go.  The owners are great people who do a lot for the community. That means a lot to us when we select where to go eat.
