As locals who are well acquainted with the food scene here,  we decided to create  a  guide where we talk about our favorite spots and to help others keep up with the latest food news and find resources like specials and happy hours

*Our Faves:  These are the places we go to regularly and spend our own money. Nobody paid us to write about these places.
*Lists: These are a combination of our opinion and popular opinion of other locals. Nobody paid to be on the list.

GTs On The Bay

Atmosphere: A large lodge like building featuring a huge fish pool in the middle, floor to ceiling windows and an expansive deck with a beautiful bay view. During the Summer the deck bar is opened up and there is live music for your enjoyment.  Off the deck is a large play area with a pirate ship playground, making this one of the areas top family dining restaurants.
The Service: We've always had good luck here. It's a large place with a lot going on. Servers are usually buzzing around. We haven't had bad service but, if you need something, you might need to flag down a manager or another server. It's just the fact that the place holds a lot of people and it's so big.  Set your expectations accordingly and you'll be fine. Everyone is nice and wants you to enjoy yourself.

The Food: Seafood platters, shrimp and grits, po'boys, sandwiches, tacos, pizza, they have it all. Plus, they sport one of the largest salad bars around with tons of options. Brunch on the weekends offers up some unique dishes.

Kids Menu: They have plenty of options but, our kids only get the pizza here. At lunch, it's a $9 2 topping thin crust pizza baked on a stone hearth oven. It's actually pretty good pizza. I can't resist stealing a piece.

Cost: There is something here for every budget no matter what time of day.  The $9 Good Times Lunch Menu is an excellent value. Happy Hour specials are great. In the Winter, they have daily specials and a sunset menu that is very reasonable.

Local Perspective:  This is one of the more "touristy" places we go. Not saying that as a bad thing. It's great to vacation where we live.  With any place, when it's this size, the majority of the menu is more mass produced. With that in mind, in our opinion, it's higher quality than some of the other big places in the area.  To reduce your chances of a wait, go early or go late.
